Birthdays and anniversaries

A ceilidh is great way of celebrating significant and, is any birthday can be, insignificant anniversaries. It's a way of bringing families, friends and neighbours together for a fun night out. A live band, a caller and friendly atmosphere will help mark the day.

As for weddings, unless you and your friends are experienced dancers, we keep the expectations for dancers at a reasonably low level. This does not mean that it will be a boring event. Our caller will mix and match the styles of dance for pace etc and give everyone some thing to remember. You can expect to have long ways sets, circles and square dances to jigs, polkas and hornpipes.

Strip the Willow dances will be used and if anyone needs extra help, our caller can be relied on.

If you have any favourite dances or formats, please let us know so we can prepare them for you.

Village halls, social clubs and community centres are excellent venues as they have bars, kitchens for food preparation, car parks etc. Also they tend to have good access for the band with facilities for powering the PA, amplifiers and lights. Some of them also have rooms for us to get changed into our stage clothes.

We find these events are the nicest to play at as everyone usually knows each other and hence the interaction in the dances helps the fun.

Some birthdays and anniversaries have been  organised around a theme which is not always the Cowboys one. We have seen James Bond nights, Halloween themes and even a light hearted S&M event.

We usually allow an hour to set up from arrival to get the equipment from cars to stage area, plug everything in, check the sound levels for the instruments and the balance and get ourselves dressed and prepared. So, if you are organising a surprise event for someone, who going to led into the hall, please let us know so we can arrived an hour before the arrival.

We do have spare microphones available for anyone who wants to sing, play or (heaven forbid) make a speech.
